Arklow's location on the coast, with several good beaches, a marina and an active sailing club, is a major plus. There is a beautiful riverside walk on the banks of the Avoca and the Wicklow mountains are on the doorstep. The main road to Dublin is busy now, but the planned Ashford and Rathnew by-passes will improve commuting time. There are so many musical and drama societies and sports clubs that weekends should go by in a blur. House prices, although rising steadily, are still low compared with Dublin.
