Henrietta Street plan challenged: Plans to build 42 apartments, three shops and car-parking in Dublin's north inner city has been challenged by Henrietta Street Property Owners who say the development will affect their street which is "the origin of all townscape architecture in Ireland".

The Lamb Partnership is looking to build the apartment scheme at 43-35 Bolton Street, 17 and 1a Henrietta Street and 10 Henrietta Place, Dublin 1. The Henrietta Street Property Owners have businesses and residential property at numbers 4 to 13 Henrietta Street - including Luke Gardiner Ltd, the Daughters of Charity, Kings Inn and Ian Lumley of An Taisce.

The owners believe that any decision affecting the vista and streetscape should not be taken until a conservation study by Dublin City Council is concluded.

Another concern is that the proposal is excessive in density and makes no effort to address either Henrietta Street or Bolton Street.

Ian Lumley of An Taisce has also appealed the scheme. He objects to the height and scale of the development in relation to an adjoining protected structure, 46 Bolton Street, and to Henrietta Street. Bolton Street was named after Viceroy Duke of Bolton and was designed in the 1720s.The development of Henrietta Street was initiated by Luke Gardiner in the late 1720s.

Apartments for Foxrock: Silkmore Developments has been granted permission for an apartment development at Grove House on Hainault Road in Foxrock, Dublin 18, by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

In November, An Bord Pleanála ruled against a proposal for 46 apartments, a terrace of eight townhouses and a gate-lodge on stilts on the three-acre site because of its scale and bulk and because it failed to respect the character of the neighbourhood.

This time around however the proposal has been radically scaled down in size to include a new two-storey plus dormer level extension to provide eight apartments. The developer is looking to change the layout of Grove House and demolish an existing extension.

It is also looking to provide 17 surface car-parking spaces and nine two-storey plus dormer level five-bedroom detached dwellings, each with two surface car-parking spaces. The proposal is for a new vehicle access off Hainault Road.
