45 apartments for Blackrock

Plans for the demolition of an office block on Mount Merrion Avenue in Blackrock, Co Dublin to make way for 45 apartments have been given approval by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. Kerry O'Sullivan's Archway Holdings Ltd has been given the go-ahead to knock the existing three-storey MC O'Sullivan building and build 45 apartments in a five-storey block with a seven-storey corner element facing the Stillorgan Road. Fifty car-parking spaces will be provided, as will new gated entrances from the Stillorgan Road.

P Elliot and Co has got the thumbs-up for a major mixed-use development on Usher's Quay, Dublin 8 which will involve the demolition of five buildings on Usher's Quay and seven on Usher's Street to make way for 101 apartments and three ground office units.

An existing three-storey office building know as Olaf House at 35-37 Usher's Quay will be demolished, as will a two-storey factory and annex building known as Byrne's Lifts at 38 and 39 Usher's Quay. An existing single-storey factory at 8 and 9 Usher's Street and two three-storey derelict houses 7 and 8 Usher's Street will also be demolished.

270 homes for Adamstown

One of the three developers involved in the construction of a new town in south Dublin near Lucan has submitted plans for over 270 residential units on the site.

The €2 billion Adamstown development includes the construction of 10,000 houses in total, which will be built in 14 separate phases of between 300 and 1,000 units and will eventually be home to 20,000 people.

Michael Whelan's Maplewood Developments has lodged plans with South Dublin County Council for phase three of Adamstown. The developer, seeking permission to build 271 houses and apartments on a 5.69-hectare site, owns approximately 30 per cent of the land.

Joe O'Reilly's Castlethorn controls 60 per cent of the development site. Tierra, a family-run firm headed by Dubliner John McGreevey, owns 10 per cent of the land in Adamstown. South Dublin County Council has approved Castlethorn's first planning application in respect of some 330 homes for the initial phase of the development.
