One of the first Irish restaurants to be built over water opens towards the end of next month beside the new marina and apartments in Malahide, Co Dublin. The two-storey Cruzzo Bar and Restaurant is being bought and fitted out at a cost of £3 million by a consortium of businessmen made up of Willie O'Brien, Damian Molloy and Shane Cassidy of Kilkea Castle, Castledermot, Co Kildare.
The owners have hired chef Tom Meenaghan of Terence Conran's Mezzo restaurant in London to run the new 250-seat restaurant, which will be aimed at the middle market. Dublin architects Opperman and Associates are handling the interior design.
Malahide estate agents O'Farrell Cleere handled the sale of the restaurant for the developers, another consortium of businessmen - Sean Reilly, Gerry Gannon and Ulick and Des McElvaddy.
