Shop Front: Eileen Kelly lives in Straffan Co Kildare so it makes sense that she opened a new interiors shop in nearby Naas six weeks ago.
A little more unusual is what she sells in The Blue Door. "Ninety-nine percent of what we have is Swedish design," she says.
The place has a Scandinavian feel, with wooden furniture from Norrgavel, one of the best-known manufacturers in Sweden.
The painted furniture is farmhouse style, designed in the light, simple unfussy way the Swedes do things.
But what Kelly really focuses on is what she describes as the "soft" end of the market: floor rugs, throws, cushions and anything else fabric-based. For these, think natural fibres, crisp modern colours and above all, plenty of stripes, checks and graphic patterns.
Nothing is excessively expensive. "People can come in and walk out with a whole look from bed linen to fabric for curtains," she says.
The store is located in the new Naas Town Centre and with a Marks & Spencer Simply Food due to open in the complex over the coming weeks, Kelly is sure to draw many to The Blue Door.
