London-based Irish actress Dervla Kirwan is the latest name to join a list of celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson, Liv Tyler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Spike Lee as an ambassador for Cartier’s Lovecharity bracelet. The bracelet, launched in Dublin this week by the actress, is made of knotted silk rope and has an 18-carat gold centre, engraved with the word Love.
It costs €575 and will be on sale for the month of June in the new Cartier boutique in Brown Thomas, with 20 per cent of the proceeds being donated to the Barretstown Gang Camp in Co Kildare, the charity founded by Paul Newman in 1994. The Cartier Lovecharity bracelet supports charities worldwide and has generated more than €5 million over the past three years. Children affected by childhood cancers and other serious illness and their families come to Barretstown free of charge – this summer, according to Terry Dignan of the charity, they are expecting around 800 children for their therapeutic recreation programmes.
