Motocross GP in Fairyhouse

The Motocross Grand Prix of Ireland gets under way at Fairyhouse Race Course, Co Meath this weekend, Saturday August 30th and Sunday 31st.

Spectators can expect electrifying, high-octane, motorcycle action from some of the best motocross riders in the world. This will be round 13 of 15 of the FIM World Motocross Championship 2008 series.

The man-made track features some of the biggest jumps ever seen on a motocross track in Ireland, with massive tabletop jumps and whoops sections.

Watch out for Shaun Simpson, who will be leading the Grand Prix challenge. Simpson, who rides for the north of Ireland-based KTM UK team, is from Dundee in Scotland and is fresh from a spectacular performance at last weekend's Grand Prix in Sweden, where he finished in third place. Ross Brown, the Irish Motocross Champion at both youth and adult levels, from Naas, Co Kildare will be competing on the Sonas GOMX Suzuki.

There will also be entertainment for the family with a children's creche and play area, a shopping village, and restaurant dining with accessible and easy parking.

Northern Irish GP rider Eugene Laverty has just landed a two-race World Supersport deal to replace injured rider Fabien Foret.

Laverty, currently a 250cc GP privateer, will ride Foret's Yamaha R6 in Donington Park on September 7th and in Vallelunga in Italy on September 21st.
