UNIONS ENDORSE TATA BID:Tata Motors' bid for Jaguar and Land Rover, which Ford is selling, received an important endorsement last week from union shop stewards. Union backing, while not essential, is seen as important. The statement followed presentations to union representatives by shortlisted bidders Tata, rival Indian group Mahindra & Mahindra, and buy-out group One Equity Partners, whose bid is being led by Jac Nasser, a former Ford chief executive.
ASTON MARTIN TO BUILD OUTSIDE UK:Aston Martinis well advanced with a feasibility study almost certain to lead to a new model being built outside the UK for the first time in the company's history.
NO-GO FOR GERMAN POLLUTERS:Germany is to introduce new environmental zones in several cities. The new law is due to come into force on January 1st and will restrict access to certain urban areas for high emission vehicles.
