DD&MCC BOOK OF THE CENTURYDublin and Districts Motorcycle Club (D&DMCC) celebrates its centenary this year and has published Now We've Done the Ton by archivist Harry Havalin to mark the occassion.

The 140-page volume trawls through the 100 years of D&DMCC's involvement in the Irish motorcycle industry from road racing, grass track, scrambles and trials. It "scans the ups and downs, successes and depressions of Irish motorcycle sport north and south, since those infant days of the 20th century", describes the book's editor Donald Brindley.

Heroic bikers such as Joey Dunlop, Stanley Woods, Reg Armstrong and Ernie Lyons are all recalled.

KTM'S NEW VENOMThe new KTM ranges for 2009 have been revealed in a leaked report seen by MCN Magazine. "The report includes a full three-year model plan and was compiled in 2006 and completed early in 2007 for the company," according to MCN. The new range will be based around three engines, the current 990 V-twin engine, the 690 single introduced for 2007 and an all-new 1190 V-twin.

MONDELLO TRACK DAY FOR DOWN SYNDROMEMondello Park will host a track day on October 8th with the proceeds going to Down Syndrome Ireland's Kildare Branch. In particular the money raised from this event will go towards Early Intervention and Speech Therapy, which gives children with Down Syndrome a better shot at a more normal life. KILLALANE ROAD RACES THIS WEEKENDKillalane Road Races kicks off at the weekend, September 9th and 10th. The North County Dublin event is expecting a big turnout. "We'll be expecting 10,000-15,000 spectators over the course of the weekend," says Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters' Club PR Keith Sherwin. Among those set to speed around the roadways are local Lusk man Martin Finnegan (pictured), Isle of Man's Connor Cummins, Victor Gilmore, Davy Morgan and local lads Keith, Gareth and Derek Costello.
