Routes to avoid around the country during the week ahead
DUBLIN: Operation Freeflow will continue until January 6th 2004. Thus there will be more gardaí around the city and most of major works will finish during rush hour for the duration of Operation Freeflow. Traffic permitted to go from Pearse St on to College St.
The Quality Bus Network Project Office, with with Fingal County Council, has made a new Quality Bus Corridor (QBC) on northern side of Laurel Lodge Road from junction with Castleknock Grange east, approaching junction with Castleknock Road. Includes inbound bus lane on Laurel Lodge Road, 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Monday to Friday. Traffic signals at junction of Laurel Lodge Road and Castleknock Road upgraded to include pedestrian phases.
No right turn from Terenure Place on to Rathfarnham Road, expect delays. New layout on Beresford Place. Both sides of the road under the bridge are now open. Works on N1 in Swords from Estuary Roundabout to Lissenhall interchange, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday; on Saturdays 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The European Short Course Swimming Championships in National Aquatic Centre, Blanchardstown, December 11th - 14th, with 500 competitors from nearly 40 countries, so expect delays.
KILDARE: New Kildare Bypass has been open since Monday.
MEATH: Works on N3 between Lismullin and Ross Cross, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Traffic-calming measures for a 3 km stretch: speed limit of 40 mph.
WESTMEATH: N6 half a mile west of Kinnegad - flagmen in place for M4/M6 Motorway project. Expect delays.
GALWAY: Works on N6 Dual Carriageway from Western Motors Roundabout to Doughiska Roundabout: traffic reduced to one lane - expect delays.
LAOIS: Works on the N8, Johnstown and Cullahill, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. tend to cause some delays.
OFFALY: Works on N62 in Ferbane. Traffic divert via Ballinahown, Cloghan or Tullamore.
ROSCOMMON: Athlone Rd and Circular Rd, temporary lights Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
KERRY: Works on N21 between Tralee and Ballycarty, between Ratass east of Tralee and Ballycarty Roundabout where the N21 and N22 converge.
CORK: New N71 Skibbereen Relief Road is open. Works on N71(Cork-Bandon Rd) at Viaduct Dual Carriageway. Cork City-bound traffic diverts onto Western Bound Carriageway, two-way system on Western Bound Carriageway, delays expected.
Culvert replacements will disrupt traffic on N72 Mallow/Killarney Road from Clonbannin to Cullen: traffic lights in use. Works north of Charleville on N20. Races at Cork Racecourse on Sunday, 12.40 p.m. and 15.40 p.m. Expect extra traffic.
