Routes to avoid around the country during the week ahead
DUBLIN: Night works will take place on the Clonsilla Rd between Porterstown Rd to Blanchardstown Rd South. Clonsilla Road will be closed for the duration, from 8 p.m. on Monday January 12th to 6 a.m. on Tuesday 13th January and 8pm on Tuesday 13th to 6:00am on Wednesday January14th, for waterworks. Brides Glen Road remains closed for completion of new motorway bridge. Local access maintained. Alternative route via Rathmichael Rd and Mullinastill Rd.
George's Hill and Station St in Balbriggan closed until February 29th. Dublin Bus Nitelinks operate EVERY night until January 3rd including New Year's Eve.
KILDARE: The new Kildare Bypass is open.
Races at Naas Racecourse on Sunday between 12.45 and 3.45. The racecourse is 22 miles from Dublin, off the Naas Road (N7) on the R410 route. Free parking on-site. Expect extra traffic.
Race meeting at Punchestown Racecourse on Wednesday, January 7th, between 12.45 and 3.45. Racecourse is on Naas to Ballymore Eustace Road (R411), two miles from Naas off (N7) Naas Road. Expect extra traffic.
MEATH: Races on New Year's Day at Fairyhouse Racecourse, 12.45 and 3.45. Fairyhouse Racecourse is between the main N2 and the N3. It is north- west of Dublin on Fairyhouse Rd, within half an hour's drive of Dublin Airport and Dublin City Centre. Expect more traffic.
OFFALY: Works on N62 in Ferbane. Traffic diverts via Ballinahown, Cloghan or Tullamore. Long delays expected due to sewer laying operations in Ferbane.
GALWAY: Works on N6 from Western Motors Roundabout to Doughiska Roundabout. Expect delays. The R340 closed between Screebe and Kilkerrin, for essential repair work at Derrybush Bridge. Traffic diverts via Carna using the R340, and via Maam Cross using the N59.
LIMERICK: Old Windmill Rd (the road that links Lower Gerald St and Upper William St) is closed. Diversion signs in place. Closure for site construction activities on Old Windmill Road. Local Business and residential access and construction access only will be available to the public.
TIPPERARY: Races on Tuesday, Januay 6th at Thurles Racecourse, 12.45 and 3.45. The racecourse is five miles west of main Dublin/ Cork road (N8), one mile west from Thurles. Expect extra traffic.
KERRY: Works on N21 between Tralee and Ballycarty,between Ratass to east of Tralee and recently completed Ballycarty Roundabout where the N21 and N22 converge.
CORK: Delays on N72 (Mallow/Killarney Rd) from Cloonbannin to Cullen. Disruption due to culvert replacement works; temporary traffic lights.
Races at Cork Racecourse on Saturday, January 3rd between 12.45 and 3.45, one mile from Mallow town, on the Mallow to Killarney Road (N72).
