Routes to avoid around the country
DUBLIN:
Gleanageary Rd Lower will close from August 17 to September 18 for through traffic only; diversions via Glenageary Rd Upper, Albert Rd Upper, Albert Rd Lower, Glasthule Rd and Summerhill Rd.
River Rd, Ashtown, closed for works until 6pm Monday August 29 from Ashtown Rd Junction for 200m east of junction along River Rd; traffic from Finglas/ N2 direction to Blanchardstown, M50, N3 area, continues on Ratoath Rd until Navan Rd/N3 and westbound on N3 to exit Blanchardstown; traffic from M50, N3 and Blanchardstown to get to Finglas, N2, etc continues east towards city to Rathoath Rd Junction at Cabra and to Ratoath Rd to go north to Finglas/N2.
KILDARE: Works continue at Castledermot; single-lane traffic.
Kill-Straffan rd (including Straffan Village) closed until September 12 for pipe laying and resurfacing; drivers asked to avoid area; detours signposted.
MEATH: Works on Railway St, Navan, from Railway Bridge to roundabout from 7-12pm nightly until August 17; temporary traffic lights.
WICKLOW: Works on parts of hard shoulder on N11 between Barndarrig and Arklow bypass until August 16 for investigations before Rathnew-Arklow rd improvements.
GALWAY: Works on N18 approaching Gort (Kiltartan area) in both directions until further notice.
Clifden approach to Oughterard closed to all HGVs today and tomorrow; long delays for other traffic; detours in Galway City divert westbound HGVs on N59 to R336 coast rd via Barna, Spiddal, Inverin, Casla and onto Maam Cross; detours in Maam Cross for HGVs going east to Galway onto R336 via Casla, Inverin, Spiddal and Barna; only HGVs delivering to Oughterard from Galway side permitted, but continuation on to Clifden via N59 not permitted.
GALWAY/CLARE: Works on N18 between Gort (Galway) and Crusheen (Clare) to beginning of September; minor delays.
LIMERICK: Sir Harry's Mall (from Long Lane to Abbey Bridge underpass) closed permanently; vehicular and pedestrian access only from Athlunkard St; traffic from Corbally to Dublin Rd, or from Broad St, must use Athlunkard St, Island Rd, Abbey Bridge; traffic on Broad St for Corbally must use Mary St and Athlunkard St.
TIPPERARY: Works on N24 Cahir/Tipperary Rd at Ballydrehid, 4 km west of Cahir to mid-October; extreme caution advised.
KILKENNY: Kilkenny Arts Festival August 12-21; expect delays on all approaches.
KERRY: Puck Fair in Killorglin until Friday; expected delays.
LEITRIM: Delays on N4 on Dublin side of Carrick-on- Shannon to about August 19 for construction of roundabout.
SLIGO: Diversion in the area south of Hughes Bridge (Queens Store Rd) until further notice for tie-in of new inner relief rd with bridge; diversions via Lynn's Place, Pirn Mill Rd and Ballast Quay.
