Volkwagen's newest cabrio model has been snapped out and about on secret trials. Judging from the disguised model and the computer-enhanced image, it should be an attractive proposition for those unimpressed by the styles currently on offer from the likes of Renault and Peugeot.
VW put forward a design study called the Concept C at the Geneva motor show in March of last year. Then two months ago the company gave the green light to the project, aiming to build a combined coupé and convertible four-seater with an innovative folding steel roof, a feature that looks to have been retained if these early pictures are accurate.
The 2006 VW cabrio looks like falling between the Golf and the Passat in the company's range. It's due to be unveiled in Frankfurt next month, with a European launch expected in the first quarter of 2006.
Expect to see the full range of VW engines on offer, including the new 280 bhp 3.6L VR6, though that is likely to be introduced later in the vehicle's life cycle
