VOLKSWAGEN IS offering free insurance and motor tax for a year to anyone who buys or takes delivery of any new VW car in April. The incentive applies to any model – except the Golf R – and is open to customers aged 25 or over with a full driving licence, no more than four penalty points over the last three years and has a minimum four years no claims bonus. The insurance part of the deal is being underwritten by Allianz.
It’s the latest incentive from the German brand in its battle to win sales amid a rather lacklustre new car market. Ford and Toyota have dominated to top of the sales table, but VW is now firmly ensconced between them and eyeing first place. Showroom floors might be quiet, but the marketing departments seem to be hives of activity.
