Claire Byrne stepped into Lorraine Keane’s shoes on Thursday evening to host a party to celebrate the 50th year of Fitzpatricks shoe shop on Grafton Street. “Lorraine had to go into hospital for a minor op, but sends her love,” Byrne said.

Fitzpatricks was founded in 1926, but this month marks 50 years on Grafton Street. Shoe designer Marco Moreo flew in for the event, and Byrne referred to him as being “the perfect man . . . a shoemaker!”

Model and actress Susie Amy, who played Chardonnay Lane in Footballer's Wives, arrived before her boyfriend, the Leinster and Ireland rugby player Rob Kearney. He arrived towards the end with his brother Dave and Fergus McFadden, both of whom also play for Leinster.

The company announced a fourth-generation Fitzpatrick to its board this week, Andrew Fitzpatrick, who greeted guests at the door along with the first nonfamily board member, its director of buying, Rachael Armstrong.
