Simple Kind to Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion €5.49
For quick make-up removal I recommend micellar water or an oil-based or gentle cream cleanser. Don’t go for a make-up wipe: they are useless. This Simple cleanser will not irritate, removes make-up and contains a good mix of ingredients.
Lé Mara Hyaluronic Serum €5.99
Every skin type will benefit from a good hyaluronic serum. This is one of the best. It outperforms many of the costlier options. Just get it: it’s a no-brainer. Be aware, however, that not all of the Lé Mara range is as good as this serum; there are duds in any range, and unfortunately the Lé Mara Facial Oil and Oil Cleanser are pore-blockingly dreadful.
Lacura Face Treatment Oil €5.99
We are back to Aldi for our facial oil. As I have said, I don't rate the Lé Mara facial oil, but this facial oil by Aldi's own brand, Lacura, is superb. There are two options, including one for sensitive skin. These oils are excellent and come in much bigger bottles than most other facial oils. A big thumbs up
Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Cleanser €7.95
Although they might not shout “exfoliator” on the label, many cleansers act as exfoliators. I don’t recommend them for make-up removal, as they can sting your eyes. Once your make-up has been removed, a second cleanse with a mild glycolic cleanser will help to sweep away dead skin cells. This product contains a gentle combination of 2 per cent glycolic acid and fruit amino acid, along with olive oil, so it won’t dry your skin out.
Nivea Daily Essentials Moisturiser €6.99
I have a lot of time for Nivea skincare. This range is formulated with almond oil and calendula, which has a calming effect on skin. It is available for different skin types, so you can choose the right one for you. Use it morning and night, perhaps choosing the richer option at night and using an SPF over the top during the day.
Boots Essentials Cucumber 3 Minute Clay Mask €1.99
This is a product of yore for sure. I remember using it as a teenager and I probably continued to use it well into my 20s. It’s great and will smooth your skin. Korean-influenced sheet masks are appearing everywhere, too, and this means that you can pick up single masks, which is a good idea, as you have a chance to try without much expense. You will look like Hannibal Lecter with one on, though, so make sure you don’t give unexpected visitors the fright of their lives when you open the door to them.
