Ladies in the city centre could take time out from the office to discover Polish, a new nail salon cleverly located in a Georgian building on Lower Fitzwilliam Street, off Baggot Street. Inside, the theme is French boudoir, giving way to calm, cream-painted treatment rooms where super comfy leather recliners allow you to sit back and soak.

Treatments range from a simple polish change (€20) through a mini-pedi, a juicy pedi – starting with a lime soak and ending with a cocktail served on the side – to a great medi-pedi that uses an alkaline solution and callous cream to treat dry, cracked feet (€90 for a 75-minute treatment). Add a €15 leg massage and you’ll float back to the office. A 30-minute male manicure costs €30.

While you’re being buffed and polished, any jewellery you have will get a clean, too. Polish, 6 Lower Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 2, tel: 01-6619888; polishspa.ie
