A photograph of a couple lying on the ground during a riot in Vancouver has sparked viral levels of speculation: is it real? Are they kissing? Even the photographer, Richard Lam, wasn’t sure what he’d captured until witnesses claimed the pair had been knocked down by riot police. An Australian woman has since identified the man in the photograph as her brother, Scott Jones, and the woman as his girlfriend, Alex Thomas, whom Jones was apparently trying to comfort.
