Fuela Gentile has been welcoming diners to Le Caprice on St Andrews Street, Dublin 2, since 1977, so she was a tad taken aback when, on the Features page last week, Michael Harding quoted an Italian merchant in Smithfield bemoaning the closure of several of Dublin’s Italian restaurants, including her own.
So we’re here to assure you that Le Caprice is very much still up and running. It’s one of those old- fashioned restaurants where we know we will find a welcome and a lip-smacking spaghetti amatriciana. We will laugh and be merry and generally have a good time on the town. Home-made tiramisu? Why not. Live piano music? Generally, on a Saturday night. Sambuca? Oh oh.
