It all started when little Barry McCall discovered his mum’s Kodak Instamatic camera and became fascinated with the printed image. With a brother sharing the same interest and a father willing to build a darkroom in the attic of the family home, McCall had all the support and encouragement he needed to pursue his dream, but even he couldn’t have foreseen the success that lay ahead. Now one of this country’s best-known photographers, he has captured the great and the good over the past 20 years and produced fashion and portrait photography of the highest merit.
When it came to putting together a retrospective of his work, and conscious of his own happy childhood, McCall chose the ISPCC to be the sole beneficiary of the project. The book aims to raise €250,000 and is available at Brown Thomas and BT2 stores nationwide, priced €80.
