Ger Lawless has just won a million Green Shield stamps, and she has 14 friends and family to tell her how she should use them. That's the start of The Unmanageable Sisters, the new Irish adaptation of the 1968 play Les Belles-soeurs, by the Quebecois playwright Michel Tremblay, telling the story of the relationships between 15 working-class women. Deirdre Kinahan has adapted the play for an Irish audience, moving the action from Quebec to Ballymun in the 1970s.
On the latest Irish Times Women's Podcast Róisín Ingle speaks to the 15 -strong all-female cast at the Abbey Theatre, where the play is running until April 7th, and finds that the onstage sisterhood is just as strong offstage.
