Antonia Campbell Hughes, fashion designer and actress
It has been a busy few months for Antonia Campbell Hughes. Until now we've known her as a fashion designer, but acting is a new passion, one that is taking off with great speed since she moved to London three months ago. At home in Dublin she landed a small part in Neil Jordan's upcoming film Breakfast on Pluto, alongside Cillian Murphy, but a few weeks ago Campbell Hughes secured a principal role in a BBC costume drama, which she's filming in Malta opposite James Purefoy, the dishy English actor from films such as Vanity Fair and Mansfield Park. Her fashion business has found fresh momentum, too: she has just been recruited by Top Shop to design a range in conjunction with the high-street retailer, and her own collections continue unabated, with an upcoming feature in Elle magazine. For those who know her, these latest adventures aren't wholly surprising - typical of the spirit of a woman with the guts to move to London alone and make things happen through hard work, ambition and, of course, considerable talent.
