Deals that caught our eye this week
Watch out: You can trade in your watch or diamond jewellery against a new purchase, as long as yours is from a recognised luxury brand and in good condition, at the Watch Gallery at Dawson Jewellers, on Dawson Street, Dublin 2. It reconditions the watches, then sells them with 12-month warranties. Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, Sat 9.30pm-5.30pm. 01-6624437
New you: Fancy a new hairstyle but short of cash? The Peter Mark training academies, in Dublin and Belfast, offer a cut or highlights for up to 50 per cent less than salon prices. Contact the academy to see if it can fit you in (Mon-Thu 9am-5pm) - and find out how long you might need to allow for your appointment. North Earl Street, Dublin 1, 01-8743495; St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2, 01-4751126; and Great Victoria Street, Belfast, 048-90311968.
Not to be sneezed at: Allergy sufferers can take some consolation from the fact that Argos is selling the Dyson DC15 Allergy Cleaner (effective against dust mites and cat hair) for €334 instead of the usual €505 during its sale, which runs until July 28th.
Booked your holiday?: If you're looking for some poolside reading, www.thebookpeople.ie is offering 10 Inspector Rebus novels, by Ian Rankin, for just €19.49, plus €7.99 p&p (or free p&p if you spend more than €55). So each book can cost less than €2, versus €10 in many bookshops. As this is not a book club you need never buy another thing from it - but you probably will.
For the coffee table: The shop at the National Gallery of Ireland has some book bargains, too. Beautiful art and design books from publishers such as Taschen cost from €5.99; larger-scale art books cost from €14.99.
Body beautiful: The Body Shop is selling off selected items from its old make-up range at half-price. Its eyebrow kit is now €7.75; Liquid Lip Colour is now €6.75.
Safe sun: Marks & Spencer has a buy-one-get-one-free promotion on a range of suncare products. Prices range from €7.50 to €12.
