The Tudors
For a dramatic setting choose the 500-year-old Tudor Thornbury Castle where King Henry VIII once walked the rooms and grounds with Anne Boleyn. Try not to focus on the fact that Henry has her beheaded after just 1,000 days of marriage and focus instead on the castle’s charm: dramatic halls with heavy oak accents, roaring fires in the bedrooms, sumptuous bedchambers and modern cuisine. There is a vineyard within the castle walls from which Thornbury Castle wine is still produced.
