ADAM HARVEYrounds up the latest travel gadgets
**For those leatherskins planning to crack the ice on the Irish waters this summer, it's about time to start doing a few practice laps, to make sure you can make it back to shore. Ease the process with a set of waterproof headphones from H2o (£49.95/€55.88, www.h2oaudio.co.uk). They're submersible to four metres, bass-enhanced so the sound waves aren't swallowed in the water and come with five different earbud sizes. The company also sells waterproof holders for iPods and MP3 players.
**The Speedo Hydro Shell XP II Watershoe (€35, www.speedo.com for list of distributors) sounds like the business for beachcombers, shore runners and bog snorklers. It has a breathable mesh, plus a rubber sole with "rapid drainage ports", covered with a metal mesh, to let the water out and keep a steady grip on slippery surfaces. They might be handy for the country's paved streets if the summer rains are anything like those of the past two years.
**Unscented sun cream is designed to make it easier to lather the little ones, although the list of what's not in the Organic Children SPF25 cream (£13.21/€14.78 for 150ml, www.greenpeople. co.uk) – perfumes, petrochemicals, lanolin and colourants – may make adults a little alarmed at what they've been smearing over their skin all these years. The cream also contains beeswax, so it's "vegetarian, not vegan", according to the label. Also available in 30ml travel size.
