Airfield ploughing:Most of us have only seen Scottish Clydesdale horses on TV, but in Dublin's urban farm, Airfield in Dundrum, Tom Nixon and his huge horses will be ploughing, tilling, rolling and reseeding three acres of the almost 15-hectare estate.
The demonstration, which continues on Monday and next weekend, is part of a May Day celebration that includes the decoration of a fairy tree, a ceílí on the lawn and a fairy-wand workshop for children. In a nod to the Bealtaine festival, a series of events for older people taking place during May countrywide, Airfield’s May Day celebration is offering free entry to grandparents.

Festival of Fools
In Belfast all weekend there’s the Festival of Fools, a huge street-theatre event taking place all over the city, with international artists from Russia, Spain, Sweden and France providing free entertainment. Most of the action takes place in the Cathedral Quarter and in the city’s newest public space, St Anne’s Square.
