Branching out:National Tree Week takes place from March 6th-12th. This annual festival celebrating all aspects of trees in our lives is organised by the Tree Council of Ireland.
The theme this year is “The Year of the Forest” and the festival commences on Sunday, March 6th, with a family fun day at Avondale House, Co Wicklow. There will be displays and demonstrations of tree and wood-related crafts and activities, hurl making demos, woodland and bird walks, and musical performances with wooden instruments. Head for the hillsThe People's College In Dublin's Parnell Square, in conjunction with Walkabout Wicklow, is offering a spring introductory hillwalking course starting on Tuesday, March 15th. The course will include two evening theory sessions and four fully guided walks (on Saturdays and Sundays). Beginners will be taught how to use a map and compass while use of hillwalking equipment and tips for walking safety will also be covered. The cost is €95.
