Canoe trails:Two new coastal canoe trails have been launched in Northern Ireland; the Foyle Canoe Trail and the South East Coast Canoe Trail.

The Foyle Trail stretches over 53km and runs from Lifford to Magilligan Point. The South East Trail – over 80km – runs from Strangford village to Narrow Water in Carlingford Lough. Hard hike

An Óige Hillwalkers Club is hosting an “introductory hard hike” on Sunday, September 4th. This hike, which is tailored for non-members who are considering joining the Club, will go from Laragh to Oldbridge (18km). Transport is by private bus from Burgh Quay, Dublin (€12) at 10am. There will be a second pick-up/drop-off point near Loughlinstown roundabout. Participants should be properly equipped and have a good level of fitness (hillwalkersclub.com).

Get on your Bike

Marie Curie Cancer Care will hold its 15th annual cycle fundraiser on Saturday, September 10th.

There will be a choice of three routes: 30km from Downpatrick Racecourse to Killough, Downpatrick and back to the racecourse; 50km from Downpatrick through Killough, Ardglass, Strangford, Downpatrick and back to the Racecourse.
