BANK HOLIDAY CHALLENGE:Croagh Patrick Walking Tours is offering a two-day walking event over the October bank holiday weekend that takes in Mweelrea on day one, followed on the second day by a strenuous walk in the Maumturks.
Both walks will leave from the Octagon in Westport. These walks are challenging and there is a list of accommodation available on the company’s website.

SPOOKY CHARITY TREK
The Barnardos Halloween Full Moon Trek will take place on Lugnaquilla on the October bank holiday weekend. Participants will tackle Leinster’s highest peak and are asked to raise €175 each for the children’s charity.
The walk starts out from Fenton’s pub at 2.30pm to reach the summit at 6pm where there will be a firework display followed by a festive barbecue and music back in Fenton’s. This is a strenuous walk. Be prepared for a serious mountain trek. Booking at barnardos.ie
