Special Olympics walkYou can help raise money for the Special Olympics in Co Fermanagh tomorrow by making a donation on one of two walks. Meet at 11am at the entrance to Cuilcagh Mountain Geopark. The longer walk, which is for more serious walkers, goes to the top of Cuilcagh and will take about six hours; on the shorter walk, which will last about two hours, a guide will explain the flora, fauna and geology of the area. Batty about biodiversityKnocksink Wood, near Enniskerry, in Co Wicklow, is marking Biodiversity Week with a bat walk next Wednesday at 9pm. You'll be able to see, hear and learn about the creatures (right). Meet at Knocksink Wood's education centre at dusk. Bring insect repellent and a torch. Booking is not required, and all are welcome. Brittas Bay natureIf you're at the beach and sand dune wall at Buckroney Nature Reserve, beside Brittas Bay, in Co Wicklow, next Saturday at 11am, you'll be able to join a free guided walk, looking at the biodiversity of its plants and animals. The morning is aimed at adults but also suitable for older children who are interested in natural history. Don't bring very young children, however, as the route is unsuitable for buggies. Connemara bog cycleFor something more exerting, how about two days of bike races through Connemara? The Bog Week Grand Prix, a 65km race, takes place next Saturday at 4pm; the Gogarty Cup, a 100km race, follows next Sunday at noon. Both start in Letterfrack.
