Galty walks Meeting every weekend, usually in the Comeragh, Knockmealdown or Galty mountains, Galtee Walking Club offers graded walks for new members or anyone who’d like to join in for a one-off hike.
The next meetings of the group, which has more than 150 members after nearly 10 years in existence, are tomorrow, for a six-hour, five-lake walk on open mountain from Clydagh Bridge, and for a three- or four-hour forest and mountain walk from Glenbrohane Church. By the light of the moon Extreme Ireland, a company that offers hiking tours, is holding a full-moon walk in Co Wicklow – over Scarr Mountain and down into Lough Dan – on Wednesday December 2nd. It’s a two and a half hour walk on open mountain. Meet at Lynams of Laragh at 6.45pm, say the organisers, and you should be back by midnight, “just in time for a farewell drink”.
