Orienteering at AvondaleAvondale Forest Park, in Co Wicklow, has three new orienteering courses, ranging between 750m and four kilometres. You can download maps for the year-round courses, which are suitable for all levels of experience, from coillteoutdoors.ie. From these you can search for control points and their codes while navigating the park (below). Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended – and be prepared to get dirty.
Sperrins Hillwalking ClubThis Northern Ireland hillwalking club meets for guided walks (below) twice a month. The next is a demanding three- or four-hour walk through Banagher Glen tomorrow week. Midweek walkingBlackstairs Ramblers walking club organises an evening walk every Thursday. Starting at 7.45pm, it takes two or three hours and is always on established trails around Mount Leinster and the Blackstairs. The club is also meeting tomorrow week for a choice of a four- or five-hour walk or a two- or three-hour walk.
