Barrow Way
The Barrow Way Challenge takes place from May 6th to 8th and the challenge is to complete the entire 113km route in three days.
There are six stages to the walk and the aim is to cover two stages per day. The distances are: 46km on day one; 35km on day two; and 32km on day three. Accommodation is in Athy on night one and Leighlinbridge on night two, and should be booked directly. A full list of accommodation options will be provided.

Tipperary walking
The Aonach ar Siúl Walking Festival takes place from May 6th to 8th. Based in Nenagh, Co Tipperary, there is a selection of walks ranging in length and difficulty and a moderate level of fitness is required. Connemara Mayo guidebook
A new walking guide – Connemara Mayo A Walking Guide – been launched by The Collins Press. Written by Paul Phelan, the guide includes a wide variety of walks and terrains. For example, easy two-hour walks on surfaced paths, two- to three-hour flat island and coastal walks, two- to four-hour gentle hill and mountain hikes, and four- to seven-hour strenuous hill walks. Maps and photos are included for each walk along with information on history, archaeology, landscape, flora and wildlife. Price: €14.99 from outdoors shops and bookstores.
