Best holiday? My first trip to the west coast of America with my husband. I don't think I'll ever forget driving across the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco . . . We both loved it so much that when the opportunity came to move there for a couple of years we grabbed it. I even set my new book there!

Worst holiday?I went on a cheap-as-chips last-minute package holiday to Tenerife with a group of friends in the mid-1990s and I don't think I'll ever forget it (try as I might).

Dream holiday?I'd love to take the whole family to Australia as I've never been.

Favourite place in Ireland?I'm lucky enough to live in the sunny southeast and you can't beat it. I have a soft spot for west Cork too . . .

Holiday reading?I love all the Irish women authors so I'd pack a selection of those.

Where to next?New York to research my next novel. I haven't been there for over a decade so I'm looking forward to exploring it all over again and finding the perfect locations for my characters' stories to come alive.
