This week My Holidaystalks to actress Tara Leniston

Your earliest holiday memory? My earliest holiday memory would be in Mauritius with my family. It was a holiday my father won at work, so it was our first break away in the sun, I remember I had these very cool polka-dot sunglasses and drank virgin pina coladas and thought I was very grown up.

What was your worst holiday? My worst holiday was probably to Fiji. I had just broken up with my boyfriend at the time and went with my family to this lovers' island. Everyone was on their honeymoon, and I spent all my time moping around.

Your best holiday? My best holiday was last year in the south of France with my best friend, Laura. We sailed up and down the coast on this amazing old sailing boat. We became real sailor girls, learning about the boat, and every night we would sail to a new place and wake up with new surroundings. It was just idyllic.

If budget or work were no restriction, what would your dream holiday be?I would love to go on safari in South Africa and stay in a treetop hotel. I hear that the animals come and walk around below you at night.

If you had your pick, who would you bring on holiday with you and why?I would probably bring my sister Sophie or my friend Laura with me. With Sophie, we always have a giggle and get into some kind of mischief. With Laura, I'd never get lost and we always have a plan. She is so organised, so I let her take charge of things.

Your favourite place in Ireland?I would have to say Killaloe, Co Clare, where I grew up. It's just so pretty, and everyone is so friendly and lovely. It reminds me of my childhood. Adare Manor is quite close to there, and it has some beautiful grounds to walk around.

What holiday reading would you recommend?I love romance novels, but recently I've been reading a lot of Helena Frith Powell. She is a great travel and lifestyle writer who shares her anecdotes of where she has been and some of the great stylish women she has met along the way. Her last book, Two Lipsticks and a Lover, is a witty tongue-in- cheek look at why French women always look so sleek and stylish.

Where will you spend your next holiday, and why?I am not sure where my next holiday will be. Because of my job I may have a lot of time off or none at all, so I tend to book my holidays just a few days in advance. I just go where the wind takes me.
