Keeping it country

NANCI Griffith, Carlene Carter and Mundy are just some of the names in the line-up for the sixth Guinness Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival, which kicks off on February 24th. More than 100 artists are taking part in the festival, which features 30 concerts in five days in and around Belfast.

Thursday will see Nanci Griffith take to the stage in the Empire, Mundy, Ian Archer and Pam Rose will be in Madison’s Hotel and Jerry Harmon is at the Duke of York. Midge Ure will also take to the Empire stage on Saturday, February 27th.

Tough enough?

ONLY the fittest are being sought for two extreme mountain challenges aiming to raise €100,000 for the Mercy University Hospital Foundation in Cork.

The Wicklow Mountains Survival Challenge takes place from May 1st to 3rd with the Comeragh Mountains Survival Challenge taking place from September 24th to 26th.

Entrants must raise a minimum of €650 to participate.
