Footwear in Madrid
Here's a good reason to visit Madrid in August: Fascination and Seduction, a show celebrating Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo, comes to the Museo del Traje. The show also tells the history of the stiletto, from its first appearance in Christian Dior's 1940s New York collection to its status as a symbol of sexy chic. Entrance is only €3.
Continental powers up
Continental Airlines has extended its Audio-Video on Demand system to economy class on all services from Dublin and Shannon to Newark Liberty International Airport. Seat-back video screens will offer 40 movies, 50 TV programmes, 2,000 audio tracks and 20 video games. There will be power ports at every seat for laptops, portable DVD players and digital music players.
London to get pricier
Expect the price of London hotel rooms to rise in the coming months. Deloitte has advised the UK hotel industry to stop the giveaway prices and take advantage of the green shoots emerging between now and mid-2010.
