The rest of the week's travel news
North opens historic doors
From windmills and churches to cottages and castles, Northern Ireland will open the doors of private heritage-listed buildings next weekend. Visitors will get a chance to learn more about historic buildings and take part in themed events and tours. See www.ni-environment. gov.uk.
London top for breaks
European city breaks haven't lost their attraction, with many travellers booking before they'd even got home from their summer destinations. The top 10 cities, according to Ebookers.ie, are London, Paris, Prague, Edinburgh, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Rome, Budapest, Athens and Madrid.
Malév crew take title
In a survey earlier this year of 15 million passengers from 95 countries, the cabin staff of Hungary's Malév (www.malev.com) came out as the best among the airlines of eastern Europe. Malév was awarded best airline in eastern Europe by Global Traveler, a US magazine. The carrier is now offering 25 per cent discounts on flights to Budapest for children aged 2-11 and 33 per cent for destinations beyond Budapest. Business-class travellers can take a companion for free.
Are you off to NYC? The winner of Go's US shopping trip is Patrick Lennon of Glendoher Drive, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.
• In last week's feature on shopping in Chicago, we should have given www.chicagoshopwalk.com as the address for Danielle Lutz's shopping service.
