EVER WANTED to sleep under the stars in Central Park in New York? Now you can, in luxury, for $3,000 (€2,090) a night – in an outdoor bedroom.
Until October 31st (weather permitting), guests at AKA Central Park who book the penthouse on the 17th floor of the 134-room hotel can ask staff to move their bed onto the 1,000sq ft wraparound terrace in front of a wood-burning fireplace.
They’ll also turn on outdoor mood music, offer cocktails or champagne, midnight snacks, flashlights, an e-reader and a telescope for stargazing.
AKA (hotelaka.com) is a group of luxury extended stay (usually a week) hotels in New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC that has plans to open in Los Angeles and London.
It has furnished apartments with hotel services and resort amenities.
Meanwhile, over on the Upper East Side, you can camp out in a tent pitched on the fenced-in rear patio of a ground-floor terrace suite at Affinia Gardens (affinia.com). Sleeping bags aren’t provided but extra bedding is. Terrace suites start at $309 (€215); use of tents is $35 (€24).
