GO GADGETS:For those of us who have a tough time finding a matching pair of socks each morning, think of the extra aggravation that would be caused by owning several pairs of Injinji's split- and individual-toe socks.
Not only must you find socks of the same colour when rummaging through the top drawer; you'll also have to ensure you don't grab two right-footed socks. The toe-separation idea, however, seems sound enough - they're designed to make feet drier by wicking moisture away from the skin. There are separate models designed for hiking, mountain biking and even yoga (with a grip on the soles), but the most novel are the rainbow-coloured set made from recycled plastic bottles and "post-industrial" waste. (€10, www.injinji.com.)
• For gourmet campers who never want to be caught without the correct utensils, Brunton's FlipSticks folding chopsticks are made from bamboo and stainless steel (€22.50, www.brunton. com). They come with their own pouch and a one-year warranty.
• From Wenger, the makers of the "genuine" Swiss army knife - as opposed to Victorinox, which makes the "original" Swiss army knife (there's a difference, but it would take an army of Geneva copyright lawyers to unravel it for us) - comes the EvoGrip range of knives with ergonomic rubber grips. Skip the 52-feature doorstop of a knife and try the EvoGrip yellow 18-function model (pictured, €40, www.wenger.ch). It's got all the basic penknife features, as well as a locking screwdriver.
