Ben Aliaga-Kelly, a Go reader from Dublin, got in touch about Thomas Breathnach’s article on Namibia (Go May 15th).
I’ve just read your article on your Namibia trip. It brings back great memories. I too went with the Nomad tour company from Cape Town up through Namibia and Botswana and on to Victoria Falls in 2007. My guide was Grey Maguire, and yes I remember the truck “Freddie” well, including the middle rear seat which gave me bachache for three days! They really were a great crew, very well organised, and what a country.
Given all there was to see, you understandably left out my very favourite part: driving down off the escarpment from Fish River Canyon towards Sossusvlei, with the dunes on one side and the mountains and plains on the other. Absolutely spectacular. Looking forward to going back, probably in one of those white 4x4s to do it more slowly second time around.
Anyway, just wanted to say great article, and hopefully others will be inspired to experience this incredible country. Just not too many of them!
Bernice Harrison writes: Stieg Larsson fans – and there are millions of them – can now go on the Millennium tour in Stockholm where his three thrillers are set.
The walking tour, organised by the City Museum, stops at all the key locations mentioned in the books – Mikael Blomkvist's hangout, the coffee bar at Hornsgatan; Kvarnen, the bar on Tjärhovsgatan where Lisbeth Salander drinks; and the apartment block at Fiskargatan where she buys her swanky flat with her ill-gotten gains at the end of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
