Irene Furlong, a reader from Dublin, got in touch to say she was still waiting for Ryanair to refund the cost of a cancelled flight on March 9th, having applied for her money on October 4th last year
“On September 16th, 2008, I made two separate bookings for my husband and myself with Ryanair to Budapest, to travel on March 11th this year.
“On October 4th Ryanair notified me by e-mail that the flight had been cancelled and offered us either a flight on the following day or, if this did not suit us, a full refund. I promptly opted for the refund, as we were obliged to travel on March 11th.
“On October 4th I completed the refund form on the Ryanair website and submitted it for both bookings. The refund application form assured me that my request ‘will be automatically processed by Ryanair within 30 working days back onto the form of payment used in your booking’.
“No refund has been made to my Visa account, and on January 7th I wrote to the Ryanair refunds department at Dublin Airport but to date have heard nothing. I have retained copies of the original completed refund submission form and my letter of January 7th. Can you help to resolve this impasse?
Ryanair responds"The refunds were paid in early March."
