RTÉ's People in Need Telethontakes place on Friday, with more than 4,000 fundraising events expected around the country, and a live broadcast fronted by Ryan Tubridy.
Going the distance, so to speak, is Wexford man Eoin Ryan, who will be doing a static Ironman triathlon at the top of Grafton Street using an exercise bike, a treadmill and a mobile swimming pool to complete a 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and a 42km run, taking approximately 12 hours. Theatre
Directed by Alan Stanford, Philadelphia Here I Come!is Brian Friel's bittersweet story of a young Co Donegal man and his intended move to America. The production kicks off at Glór in Ennis, Co Clare, this Tuesday for three nights before touring to the Helix and Pavilion Theatres in Dublin and the Everyman Palace Theatre in Cork. www.glor.ie.
42nd Streettakes over the Gaiety Theatre for a two-week run from Wednesday featuring toe-tapping Simon Delaney and a cast of 50 dancers. The Pavilion Theatre in Dún Laoghaire hosts an international children's theatre festival, FLIP FLOP!from today until Thursday. See www.paviliontheatre.ie.

To coincide with the launch of National Organic Week, Minister for the Environment John Gormley TD will today open a new organic food marketbeing run by the Dublin Food Co-op, at 12 Newmarket, Dublin 8, today. The market is open from 9.30am to 4pm and offers organic fruit and veg, eggs, wholefoods, cheeses, sourdough breads, quiches, tarts and savouries, herbs, jams and chutneys. www.dublinfood.coop.ie.
