Women living in Ireland have a one in 10 chance of developing breast cancer in their lifetime, which is why the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland's annual Race Against Breast Cancer Dayat Leopardstown tomorrow is such an important event. Last year, it raised more than €600,000 for breast cancer research. The first of an eight-race card is under starter's orders at 12.30pm. Contact 01-4022747.

As part of the 2007 Chamber Music Weekendat the RDS, the Chilingirian Quartet plays a programme that includes Haydn, Bartók and Beethoven at 8pm this evening. Listowel Food Fairtakes place from Thursday until November 12th and is a celebration of local food in the Co Kerry town. There are markets, gourmet food awards, classes, workshops and the Young Chef of the Year awards.
Euro-toques and the European Commission are promoting this Thursday as European Day of Healthy Food and Cooking with Children(the name needs some work). Euro-toques members will be visiting their local primary schools to carry out taste workshops with kids. Itsabagel's Neil Shirt will be carrying out workshops on tasting, planting, smoothie-making and healthy lunchbox preparation in Primrose Hill School, Celbridge, Co Kildare. Theatre
Alone it Standsauthor John Breen's new play Falling out of Loveopens at the Civic Theatre in Tallaght on Wednesday at 8pm and will tour to Portlaoise, Waterford, Castlebar, Limerick and Dublin. The Knitting and Stitching Showtakes place at the RDS this weekend and is aimed at anyone with a love of needlework. In addition to a dizzying array of products, there are workshop and lecture programmes for beginners and masters alike. Exhibitors include The 62 Group of textile artists with their exhibition, Widening the Boundaries, a solo exhibition from Jeanette Appleton called Sow;Sew and a hand embroidery exhibition by Tilleke Schwarz. There is also an exhibition of 50 embroidered costumes from southwest China curated by June Hill.
