More than 100 new hotels and guest houses opened in Ireland this year, the president of the Irish Hotels Federation said yesterday at the publication of the 1999 Be Our Guest accommodation guide.
Mr Bill Power said the opening of so many new establishments was an indication of the continued success and growth of the tourism industry. Next year's guide, which was launched by the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation, Dr McDaid, lists more than 1,000 hotels and guest houses on both sides of the Border.
