Suspected separatist guerrillas who kidnapped at least 20 Hindu villagers have killed 13 of them in a remote area in India's troubled Jammu and Kashmir state, a police official said today.
"So far we have recovered 13 bodies. Five others have been injured, one of them critically," a senior police official, who did not wish to be identified said.
He said so far no militant group had claimed responsibility for the killings.
Earlier, another police official had said at least 15 villagers were kidnapped by separatist guerrillas in the Kishtwar area in Doda district. Kishtwar is 220 km (138 miles) east of Jammu, the winter capital of the rebellion-torn Himalayan state.
