Thirteen factory workers have been tested for ammonia inhalation in Nenagh General Hospital following an ammonia leak at AIBP, a meat factory in Nenagh, Co Tipperary.
At 7.30 a.m. on Wednesday a refrigeration unit leaked in the meat-chilling section of the factory. The company brought 11 workers to a local doctor who referred them to Nenagh hospital, where they were monitored until 6 p.m. Blood samples were tested and chest X-rays taken. Two other factory workers were tested later. A spokeswoman for the Mid Western Health Board said the results were clear except for one person, on whom additional tests were being conducted.
