West Dublin suffered its second batch of job losses
in as many days today with the news that Fujitsu Isotec in Blanchardstown is to close its components plant with the loss of 130 jobs.
Fujitsu Isotec is a subsidiary of the Japanese electronics giant and manufactures dot matrix. The company blamed deteriorating conditions in the electronic hardware market for the decision to close the plant.
The company has been scaling back operations at Blanchardstown for the past 12 months, reducing staff numbers from 200 to the present total of 130 workers.
Staff were informed this afternoon of the decision to close the plant by the end of January. Three directors of Fujitsu Japan were present at the staff meeting this afternoon.
Yesterday 133 jobs were lost in Blanchardstown following the decision by US-based tech firm Sanmina-SCI to close its electronic manufacturing services operation.
