Guwahati - Fourteen people, including three children and four women, were hacked to death by tribal guerrillas in the eastern Indian state of Assam yesterday. Guerrillas from the Bodo group, campaigning for a tribal homeland in Assam, ambushed a bus, identified 12 members of a rival community and killed them, district magistrate Thadou said. The massacre came one day after Indian Prime Minister Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee agreed to hold talks with the region's oldest tribal insurgent group.
