A collection of 1798 and Irish volunteer memorabilia belonging to the late dealer Mr William Kearney sold for about £320,000 at auction in Dublin yesterday. James Adam Auctioneers sold the private collection, which was put together over 40 years and included 400 lots.
Almost all the lots exceeded their pre-sale estimates by four to five times. An 18th century Irish presentation sabre fetched £7,800, the highest price at the auction.
